Channel 4 News in Little Rock has reported the Arkansas Queen riverboat will be leaving Arkansas permanently. Not a lot of details were forthcoming from the management of the Riverboat, but it was reported that it may be heading to New Orleans or someplace further away. The Arkansas Queen has been a local icon on the North Little Rock shore since 1996. The riverboat is a modern replica of the historic sternwheelers that helped make Little Rock a riverboat town in the 1800’s. The Arkansas Queen offers sightseeing tours on the Arkansas River as well lunch, dinner and dance cruises. The Riverboat and its trademark calliope organ, which can often be heard by those near the downtown shore of the Arkansas River, will be missed.
