In the 36 years since Riverfest began it has grown year by year to become Arkansas’ largest festival. The weather is forecast is ideal for this Memorial Day Weekend’s activities. More than 200,000 people are expected to attend Riverfest Friday night through Sunday (May 24-26). Tickets cost $35 and are good for all three days. Children 6 and under get in free with a paid adult. Advance gate tickets are available at Walgreens for $17.50 until they run out. Shuttles are available from War Memorial Stadium and North Little Rock High School (Pershing Avenue) for $3 round trip.
Security patrols by Police officers will increase this weekend inside Riverfest and outside in the River Market area. There are also hundreds of private security guards that have been hired by Riverfest. Security is an important part of the event organizer’s plans and preparations.
Riverfest is a non-profit organization. Part of the money raised by Riverfest goes to make improvements to the park. Riverfest paid part of the cost for the new solid roof over the amphitheatre this year. First Security Bank donated most of the money for the rest of it. The amphitheatre has been renamed The First Security Bank Amphitheatre.
